Since 2020 an experimental cultural studies game lab with a specific focus on analog games and imaginative play has been under development at the University of Bonn. It aims to strengthen the inclusive movement towards an engagement with all forms of play that can be observed in game studies in the last years and offers a concrete place for experimentation, playful research and teaching as well as reflection with and about analog games in Bonn. This article first briefly introduces LAGIP, outlines some conceptual starting points with reference to current debates in the philosophy of play and explains the choice of the term imaginative play as well as LAGIP's focus on tabletop role-playing games as a specific aesthetic medium. Finally, it reports on the lab's current activities.
